God The Creator
If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
This page is dedicated to explaining how God is a Creator. We are told in the Bible that if we cannot believe the earthly things then how can we believe the heavenly things. And these films will hopefully help you the way that they did me. It truly is amazing how many earthly things are found in the Bible and how science has found them to be true.
I do have a word of advice – but I hesitate to bring it up. I mean who am I to give advice to anyone. You know? I’m just a thirty-four year old secretary who’s only known the Lord for a year and a half. What possible knowledge could I share with all of you that would make things make sense?
But I wish someone would have told me this years ago. So I thought that if I wanted someone to tell me, then maybe others wish for the same thing?
In the Bible we are told to lean not unto our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5) because there is a way that seems right to man that’s not right with God (Provers 14:11).
I was paraphrasing – but see, I wrote the Scriptures down :). Color me Bible scholar :).
But seriously, this is what I wish someone had told me.
Because I had my views, my opinions, my beliefs, etc. when I read the Bible I was imposing my beliefs on what I was reading. (I don’t know if that makes sense or not.) But see, I wasn’t reading the Bible or researching evidence or anything like that in order to learn what God wanted.
It wasn’t about God and getting to know Him.
It was about me. It was about making me feel better, making me feel like a Good Christian. Changing my beliefs, my views wasn’t the intention behind reading the Bible. So what ended up happening, my views and beliefs made it hard for me to understand what the Bible was saying. My understanding was darkened, because my views didn’t fit into the Bible. And the Bible didn’t fit into my views.
Here’s just a quick example. I know this is getting a little long.
When I was younger (and a whole lot skinnier), I liked to dress for male attention. Not a big deal right. Hollywood promotes it, girls everywhere make it a priority (makeup, working out at gyms, dieting, dressing, etc)
But the Bible said that a woman should dress modestly. Because it is considered sin when one so much as looks at another person with lust. Our God is Holy and Pure and cannot associate with sin. And He defined the sin adultery as looking at another person with lust.
I was dressing so men would find me attractive. In a sense wanting them to look at me with lust.
Causing them to sin.
But hey, God wouldn’t send me to hell for how I was dressing. Right?
So it’s not that big of deal. So when I read that, I ignored it and continued to dress a certain way, act a certain way. I didn’t listen there nor on God’s guidelines on dating, etc. Because hey, as long as I don’t have sex before marriage, everything else is not that big of deal, so I’m good. So I could just skip that part and move on.
I know I’m rambling. I can write thirteen pages on a subject and never get to the point
But here’s the point. I already had my view that God won’t throw me in hell for how I dress. And so when I read those verses, my understanding was darkened. I didn’t realize WHY God tells us to dress modestly.
And I most certainly didn’t follow it.
So I just… wish someone had told me that my own understanding was getting in my way of learning about God. So I wanted to share that with all of you.
Ask God, even if you don’t believe in Him, to help you put aside your own understanding for a little while to see what God says about the Creation of the earth.
Because if you can believe what He says about the earthly things, then you can believe the Heavenly Promises.
And that is just awesome.
