Here at God’s Public Library / Hear the Word of the Lord, we are doing something a little different.  Instead of a weekly Bible Study, we are doing a daily Bible Reading.  Most people I’m guessing will disagree (and by guessing, I mean people have told us they disagree :)  LOL.)

And I get it…  I mean…  Why do you need a building to read the Bible?  Everyone should just read their Bibles at home privately.  Reading the Bible and devotions should be a personal thing, you know like a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Why drive somewhere just to hear someone read?  That makes no sense.

It’s just Foolishness.

LOL.

Like I said, I really do get it.  Trust me, my own sin nature screams against it.

But we really do have a reason for it.

If you’ve read this website before, chances are you would have read a blog where I describe how much I use to love Bible Studies.  We’d read a little bit, but then discuss for the majority of the time.  I loved the discussion time, I mean I LOVED spouting my knowledge and my opinions.

Til one day when I realized, I was actually learning…  very little about the Lord (by very little I mean nothing), but I was learning quite a bit about everyone else’s view points.

Anyway, around that time due to reading disabilities in my family we decided to read the Bible out loud.  So it was really kind of by default that we were pushed into reading the Bible out loud together.  It was surprisingly awesome!

I have tried to read the Bible before.  But it’s like dieting.  I start off good for a week (okay maybe a day), but then I’m like… mmm Reese’s.  When I diet on my own…  total fail.  But when I actually have an accountability group to exercise with and guilt me into eating right, I can make it a whole three days :)  hehehehe.

Anyway, We actually made it through the Bible with two weeks to spare.

But there was more to it…   than just finishing the Bible.  God said where two or three people meet in My name, He will be there.  Right?  Well then there were so many other verses in Deuteronomy, Ezra, Nehemiah, 1 Timothy.  We are actually told to devote ourselves to the public reading of Scripture.  Who knew?  Turns out…  God knows we suck, that’s why He told us to read it in all the assembly  in front of the men, women, and kids.  LOL.  (By the way we are told to read ALL the days of our lives so that we may learn to FEAR Him…  just saying…)

Anyway, so we decided hey…  God tells us to read in all the assembly.  We will leave the Bible Studies to the churches, we don’t know what we’re doing anyway.  We are the Blind leading the blind here people..  LOL!  You know Jesus is just looking down here, shaking His head like…  “Seriously?  These are my minions?  This is what I have to work with?”  He’s just like..  “Stop, just stop…  Let me do all the talking.”

So….  we’re letting Jesus do all the talking.  Jesus is the Word made flesh after all..  So at least if you come…  You’ll get to hear Jesus do the talking.  Think of this as a little support group for people who suffer from Sin Natures :)  LOL.
